Description:
The 850S was HP's second offering in the 800 Series. It came standard with 16 MB of RAM and was about 60% faster than the 840S.
The 825 along with the 850 were the first computers in the 800 Series to incorporate HP's NMOS III VLSI chip tecxhnology (first used int he 500 Series computers).
The 850S used the same floor rolling cabinet as the 3000/950 Series computers. Subsequent 800 servers introduced in 1989 also used the same cabinet: 855S (P/N A1114A, $308,500), 860S (P/N A1843A, $230,000), 865S (P/N A1845A, $275,000), 870S/100 (P/N A1135A, $350,000) and the 870S/200 (P/N A1146A, $645,000). The hardware within these computers is identical except for the processor boards.
