Software for the 700 Series was distributed on DAT tapes and CD ROMs. 700 Series computers ran the HP-UX operating system and application software from SCSI disc drives, not from HP-IB disc drives.

Most software installation media will allow you to create a one to two user system. Creating a system for more users requires a specific codeword to be used with a particular computer.

The software on the museum site was archived from CD ROM. The size of the archives (ISO images) is large, usually over 75MB, and averaging 400 MB.
